We’re excited to announce the opening of the Learning Technology Innovation Centre (LTIC), UBC’s hub dedicated to elevated and transformative learning technology. LTIC ensures reliability and scalability of UBC’s digital learning infrastructure, maintaining high standards for the tools and systems that support academic delivery. LTIC encompasses the existing LT Hub, which will continue to provide support to all users of learning technology at UBC.
LTIC serves as a catalyst for innovation in digital pedagogy, providing opportunities for faculty to explore emerging technologies. This includes access to an incubation lab for experimentation, as well as collaborative research partnerships supported by dedicated staff. These initiatives aim to bridge pedagogical inquiry with technological application, advancing UBC’s academic mission.
The LT Hub, now part of LTIC, continues to serve as the primary point of contact for technical support where faculty and students can access personalized assistance for a wide range of learning technologies. Instructors are also supported in identifying appropriate tools, navigating technology-related initiatives, and understanding institutional governance related to educational technologies.
LTIC is committed to ensuring equitable access to learning technologies for all members of the UBC academic community. It emphasizes transparency and inclusivity in its operations, encouraging collaboration and broad participation in digital learning initiatives.
